This was a brief project, completed over the span of a month. New punch card design were needed for campus print labs which switched to a punch card system for print orders as opposed to cash. Originally these were meant to be printed on a RISOgraph printer, but with technical issues in the way, they were inkjet printed on soft matte card stock. The cards were then laminated as a finishing touch. The project lasted from March 2024 to April 2024.

Each word was individually edited on its own to make the whole phrase able to be spread out across multiple cards. The entire sentence including all individual words spells out “beyond all ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I will be waiting for you there.” Inspiration came from a favorite song of mine, “Human Sadness;” the imagery in the cards resembles imagery from that song’s music video (military, traditional golden era).

Again, even though it was a brief project, these card designs were fundamental in helping me learn about printed projects on a much smaller scale. Creating physical drafts for this was difficult, but very much worth it when all the cards were finalized.
